This residential area in California is different from any other as every house has planes parked in front of it instead of cars.
Take a look at Cameron Airpark where every homeowner has a plane parked right in front of their house.
It is quite an unusual sight to see a street full of planes, but not for the residents of this town.
There’s a reason why everyone in this community owns a plane.
You see, the majority of residents living here are retired pilots.
The residential airpark or the fly-in community is privately owned and situated near the Cameron Park Airport.
So the residents in this community taxi their planes to the airport to take off. And use the residential area to park their planes at home.
The residential area features roads that are about 100 feet wide.
These wide roads also allow the planes to be conveniently operated in this community.
The main road is also wide enough to be used as a landing strip. So pilots can land directly in front of their houses.
Since most of the planes in this neighborhood are single-engine propellor planes, they don’t need a lot of space to land.
Even Red Bull was able to land a single-engine propellor plane on the world’s only 7-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab.
Built in the year 1963, the Cameron Airpark in California is home to about 124 houses.
The residential area dates back to the end of World War II.
At that time, many airfields were left unchanged.
The aviation authority eventually took matters into its own hands and developed them into a residential airpark for retired military pilots.
Would you like to live in an airpark like this when you are retired?
