Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $113 billion but opts for an understated Vacheron Constantin watch costing around $9,000.

Ambani – who is Asia’s richest man and the 11th richest person in the world – is chairman and MD of conglomerate Reliance Industries.

Reliance Industries businesses span a dizzying amount of industries including energy, retail, communications, and entertainment – to name just a handful.

And sat at the top of the company is Ambani – who, according to reports, prefers to keep himself out of the limelight.

Mukesh Ambani keeps things understated

This low-key attitude extends to the 65-year-old’s wardrobe. He’s most often seen wearing a simple white, short-sleeved shirt and black trousers.

Despite having more money than most of us could even dream of, Ambani keeps it pretty modest when it comes to his choice of watches, too.

He’s been photographed wearing a discontinued Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Ref. 42002, which you can pick up for around $9,000.

OK, that’s still pretty expensive to most of us, but you get the drift.

The watch features a simple and classic design, with a leather strap, gold case, and a plain white face.

He’s also known to favor a similarly simple – and discontinued – Rolex Cellini, which can be bought for around $8,500.

While splashing out between $8,500 and $9,000 might be a bit more than we’d part for a watch – for a man of Ambani’s wealth it’s pocket change.

His son is the proud owner of a Patek Philippe

His choice of timepieces is a world away from that of his son Anant Amabani. He was seen sporting a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300G worth a staggering $9 million.

The ultra-high-end watch is a firm favorite with the rich and famous.

A Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300 belonging to Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone sold for $5.4 million at auction in New York.

Wondering what makes the watch so special?

Well, according to Patek Philippe’s official website, it took around 100,000 hours to craft it. The luxury watchmaker says the Grandmaster Chime is the ‘most complicated’ watch it makes.

“It boasts twenty complications, a reversible case and two independent dials and six patented innovations,” Patek Philippe explains. Fair enough.
