All helicopters — even the fastest ones — have a speed limit because of physical limitations that don’t let them exceed a certain mark, but this Airbus Racer helicopter has found a way to get around that speed limit and become the fastest single-rotor helicopter ever.
What’s more, it got that achievement during flight testing, which means it isn’t even the final version yet.
The Racer managed to achieve level flight cruise speed of 253 mph (407 km/h) because of its unconventional design.

The Airbus Racer helicopter looks like a half-helicopter and half-plane hybrid.
Airbus showed off this project at the Farnborough Airshow in the UK.
The airshow also had several other interesting sights, including the Boom Overture, which is the Concorde successor, as well as an Airbus A380 performing a bizarre maneuver in the sky.
However, it was the high-speed helicopter that showed its true potential by breaking records.
