This will be the year of AI powered things, no doubt.

The latest example is a robot that’s capable of learning how to make coffee just by watching somebody else do it.

Simply called ‘Figure 01’, this is the world’s first commercially-viable autonomous humanoid robot.

This is what the company that makes it, Figure, calls it.

Figure 01 is mostly designed for use in the hospitality sector, like other robots we’ve seen in recent times.

Visually, Figure 01 looks just like any other robot.

The robot is trained to open the top of a coffee machine, pick up a pod and place it in the coffee machine.

After that, he presses the button and makes the coffee.

The spooky part is that it learned how to do that just by watching humans do that.

But some might be relieved to know it took the robot 10 hours to learn that.

It would realistically take a human being no longer than a minute to learn to do the same.

It’s still pretty impressive, though.

And the impressive part is that Figure 01 knows how to correct its mistakes.

It’s a fairly simple task, but the robot could learn how to perform similar tasks in the future and ‘work’ as a butler.

AI-powered tools are all the rage at the moment.

2023 was all about chatbots, and it feels like 2024 will offer more of the same, and more AI use cases, too.

BMW, for example, is working on an innovative parking system that allows you park the car remotely using AI.

And this is probably just the start.
