There’s a ghost town in Nevada, US, that’s home to a swathe of abandoned cars.

The cars are covered in rust, which is understandable considering they’ve been left here for ages, under the scorching heat of the sun.

But the bottom line is that some of these cars are genuine gems.

This graveyard is also home to a variety of vehicles that aren’t cars.

There are buses and even some aircraft.

The video, shared to YouTube by Remote Trooper, almost looks like a movie set.

Or an open-air graveyard where movie props are left to die.

A relatively ‘common’ sight in Nevada

Nevada is the seventh largest US State by total area.

Apart from Alaska, which is absolutely massive, and Texas, which is equally sizable, the other four states that precede Nevada on this particular list are only larger than the Las Vegas state by a small margin.

As a result, and also due to the fact that large areas of the state are desertic, abandoned lands, Nevada lends itself particularly well to this sort of thing.

It probably explains why the state was chosen by the US government as the ideal place for the secretive ‘Area 51’ area.

And it also explains why some people believe Nevada is also home to a ‘nuke town‘, a small village that’s been completely leveled, supposedly by experiments relating to nukes.

When open-air fields become car graveyards

Sometimes, seemingly random fields in the middle of nowhere end up becoming a large graveyard for abandoned vehicles.

Sometimes the reason is clear, and sometimes it isn’t.

There’s a car graveyard just outside of Chernobyl that’s the resting place of every vehicle used during the evacuation after the nuclear power plant disaster.

In this case, the reason why they left the cars behind is clear, as first responders decided to leave the vehicles behind because they’d been contaminated by radiation.
