This billionaire was such a fan of the Acura NSX that he picked a few every year for 15 years.

Oracle founder Larry Ellison’s extravagant lifestyle is no secret, and with a net worth of $171 billion, can you really blame him for splashing out?

With superyachts, private jets and a fighter jet at his disposal, what’s a few cars each year?

The Acura NSX enjoys a privileged position among his car purchases.

Taking a love for the Acura NSX to the next level

Even outside of his NSX haul, he’s accumulated quite an impressive array of cars.

There’s the Ferrari Enzo, Lexus LFA, and also a McLaren F1, which he auctioned off for a staggering $3.6 million.

Ellison had previously owned a Ferrari Testarossa, but it wasn’t to be.

It was the Testarossa that led him to the NSX however, as outlined in his biography The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison: God Doesn’t Think He’s Larry Ellison.

According to the book’s author Mike Wilson, Ellison’s Ferraris kept catching fire so he decided to test drive one of Acura’s cars.

It was apparently love at first sight as he went on to buy seven NSXs over the years, most notably the 1996 NSX-T.

But it wasn’t just the billionaire reaping the benefits of his newfound love for the brand, as friends were receiving them as gifts.

And not just that – the best performing employee would also receive one.

That beats getting your picture put on the wall.

The rich are often using cars to show their appreciation – just take Dwayne Johnson’s generous presents to his dad and uncle as an example.

Or for a non-celebrity example, there’s this Canadian billionaire who gifted his business partner a Porsche.

What makes this car stand out?

The NSX made its debut in 1990, created by Honda to stir up competition against American and European manufacturers who were dominating at the time.

NSX was the first mass produced car to have an all-aluminum body, designed by Ken Okuyama.

Underneath its hood is a 270hp, 3.0L V6 engine, which was later replaced by a 3.2L engine that produced 290hp.

As impressive as the NSX is, it appears that Ellison has moved on to another top performer – the Lexus LFA to be precise.

According to Luxury Launches, the CEO has been spotted in the supercar which can reach 60mph in an astonishing 3.6 seconds.
