A piece of eerie footage shows an abandoned mall’s parking lot filled with hundreds of Tesla cars, including several Cybertrucks sitting outside the now-defunct shopping complex.
It became even more creepy when one of these empty cars pulled out and drove away.
These cars are brand new and sit outside the now-defunct Chesterfield Mall in Missouri, USA.
But why are so many brand-new cars being stored away in an abandoned mall’s parking lot?

Abandoned mall parking lot with hundreds of Tesla cars
The footage was posted on YouTube by obsoleteVoids, an explorer of abandoned locations.
She was visiting the mall to film a video and wasn’t expecting to see hundreds of Tesla cars in the parking lot.

The content creator filmed various parts of the car park and realized one of the cars was moving on its own.
Although it is known that some Tesla cars feature autonomous driving.
It was quite spooky to see one reverse itself and ‘sped off’ into the distance.
“Dude, no one’s driving them, they are driving themselves. It just drove away with nobody in it,” she said.
Some of these cars were so brand-new that they were still covered in plastic.
Why are these cars here?

There’s actually quite a good reason as to why so many unsold cars are parked right here.
Tesla rents out multiple car parks across the US as there is not that much space at dealerships.
The abandoned Chesterfield Mall for example stores a reported 400 Teslas, including many Cybertrucks.
“[Tesla] does not have enough capacity at the [local] dealership to park all of the cars they are bringing in,” Tim Lowe, senior VP of leasing for The Staenberg Group, told FOX 2 earlier this year.
“So they are renting space within the parking lot to store their cars,” he added.
