Man with one of the highest mileage Tesla Model Xs in the world shows how it’s holding up after 200,000 miles

A man in Slovakia has used his high-mileage Tesla Model X 100D for over 200,000 miles.

He’s had it for seven years and he says that’s his daily driver.

Obviously, we don’t really have an extensive track record when it comes to the longevity of EVs.

So, stories like his are always interesting but also quite useful.

The story behind this high mileage Tesla Model X

The story first went viral in 2022 and at that time, the owner said he’d done 200,000+ miles in about 5 years.

So presumably he’s put at least another 60,000 or 70,000 miles under the tires of his Model X since.

Tesla says EV batteries lose between 12 and 15 percent of their capacity after 200,000 miles.

But the owner of this Model X said his only lost 10 percent.

Electric vehicles have fewer moving components, so when it comes to the powertrain, it’s essentially all about the battery.

After that, you’ve got tires and brake pads and suspension components, which require ordinary maintenance.

As for this Model X, the owner says there are only two things that tell you the car has aged.

First, the paint is becoming ‘bubbly’ in places and second, the trunk is occasionally letting water through.

How does EVs compare to gas cars when it comes to longevity

Electric vehicles were first invented well over 100 years ago, but they’ve only become mainstream in the last 10 years or so.

For that reason, we’ve only heard of a limited number of people who’ve done hundreds of thousands of miles with an EV.

By contrast, we know a lot about equivalent gas cars.

Most people might be familiar with the story of the guy who did 2.8 million miles with his Mercedes, or the Volvo who ran for over 3.2 million miles.

Then there’s the incredible tale of the Ferrari Enzo that’s been driven for over 100,000 miles.

Not bad for a car with a market value in excess of $3 million.
