A man driving a Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder was pulled for speeding by Greater Manchester Police in the UK.

He was hoping to get away with it by coming up with a relatively original excuse.

But that didn’t work, and he still got a ticket.

Not only that, his car was seized.

What this Lamborghini owner told the Greater Manchester Police

After being pulled over, the driver of the Lambo said it was his wedding day.

That really didn’t fly.

In fact, a GMP (Greater Manchester Police) spokesperson joked about it on X.

“When stopped, driver couldn’t prove valid insurance, but asked to be let off as it’s his wedding day. We had no confetti on hand, so we improvised and threw six points at the would-be groom instead. Car seized”, the caption read.

We should probably point out that the car was seized not because the driver was speeding, but because it was uninsured.

The most common excuses for speeding

Speeding is and always has been a contentious subject.

Earlier this year, billionaire Larry Ellison (pictured below) somehow managed to receive a speeding ticket on his own island.

Police departments across the globe are trying to work out ways to use AI to fine people who are caught speeding, and some companies are creating cars that literally prevent you from speeding by slowing themselves down automatically.

But, for now, this is still a common issue, and believe it or not insurance companies keep track of this sort of thing.

According to a survey by CarInsurance.com, I didn’t know I was speeding’ and a ‘medical emergency’ are the two most successful excuses to avoid tickets.

The Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder didn’t help his driver

We know that insurance companies monitor the most common speeding excuses, and we’re fairly confident blaming the car must be high on that list.

The Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder puts out 640 horsepower and does 0-60mph in just 3.1 seconds.

The top speed is 202mph – or 325km/h.

With that in mind, going over the speed limit is probably a bit too easy.

Still don’t do it, eh?
