A Shelby Cobra, a Ford Mustang, and a Dodge Viper GTS on the same race track is a dream come true for any auto enthusiast.
Interestingly, these three legends didn’t race on an American race track but one in the United Kingdom.
Of those three cars, the Shelby Cobra was a replica, but still featured a Ford engine from a modern-day Mustang.
That same engine allowed the replica to destroy the other American cars in a drag race.

Shelby Cobra replica vs Mustang GT and Dodge Viper
Although some might not expect a replica to perform that well in a drag race, this car is – quite literally – built different.
That’s because this Shelby Cobra replica features a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine from a modern-day Mustang.

The V8 engine can produce 454HP and 420lb-ft or 569Nm of torque.
It’s not just a fast car but is also 5.4 times more expensive than a 2025 Ford Mustang GT, so don’t take it for granted.
Next up was the 2019 Ford Mustang GT fitted with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that can output 454HP and 383lb-ft or 520Nm of torque.
Last – but certainly not least – there was the Dodge Viper GTS with an 8.0-liter V10 engine with 450HP and 490lb-ft of torque.
Drag race

Driven by Mat Watson from the Carwow YouTube Channel, the Shelby Cobra replica came first in a time of 12.5 seconds, thanks to its impressive power output and low weight.
Second place went to the Dodge Viper GTS, which clocked in at 12.7 seconds.
The Mustang came in third in 13.6 seconds.
Imagine what the results could’ve been if the 2025 Corvette ZR1 could’ve joined the race.
Since the 2025 ZR1 is the fastest US production car, it would’ve made for quite an interesting all-American race.
