But when it’s ICE versus electric, it’s not necessarily fair game.
Sure, it makes for a great spectacle, but everyone knows that EVs are like a sheep in wolf’s clothing.
So when a Mustang was pitted against a Tesla, you’d think there would be one clear winner – but the result raised a few eyebrows.

Ford Mustang v Tesla Model Y drag race
The channel’s latest battle just goes to show that EVs aren’t infallible anymore.
In the battle, a gray and glossy black S650 seventh-generation Ford Mustang, presumably of the GT variety judging by the add-ons, takes on a Tesla Model Y crossover SUV.
Thankfully, the ‘Stang didn’t crash during the duel, unlike this rescued 1967 Mustang that was wrecked in a crash decades ago that turned out to be very rare.
Then there was this Ford Mustang that went flying before crashing into a kerb.
How the drag race drama unfolded
To be frank, the Ford Mustang with black wheels and crimson brake calibers had a much better start off the line.
It’s evident the driver of the blue Tesla Model Y certainly didn’t take advantage of the near-instantaneous torque at its disposal.
The reaction times were the tell-tale difference: 2.73s versus 7.38s.
The result
It was always going to be hard for the Tesla driver to claw it back after such a slow start.
In the end, the Mustang achieved 12.45s at 113 mph versus the Tesla’s 12.8s at 112 mph.
It’s fair to say that based on the trap speeds, the two were comparable, with the difference being the higher skill of the ‘Stang driver.
