Behind the wheel of one of the most intriguing BMW concept cars ever made

Supercar Blondie’s Alex Hirschi was able to get behind the wheel of what is arguably one of the most amazing BMW concept cars ever made.

It’s the BMW Vision M Next and, as the name suggests, it was designed as a way to showcase what lies ahead for BMW.

Unveiled at the back end of the 2010s, the M Next gives us a glimpse into what we can expect from BMW for the next 10 years.

Some of the components are 3D-printed, but there’s also something else that’s special about this car.

One of the issues with electric cars is they’re soundless.

This creates a potential safety issue for pedestrians, but it also creates an ’emotional’, so to speak, issue for the driver.

Obviously, it is difficult to match the excitement of a V8, V10 or V12, but BMW still tried.

In order to do that, they hired Oscar- and Grammy-winning Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer to engineer a sound for BMW’s electric cars.

This is something they’re doing with some of their production cars these days but, crucially, the Vision M Next was the first car they tried this with.
