A glossy new promo video from Tesla has revealed that the Cybertruck is the EV maker’s first model to feature bi-directional charging.
The ‘Cybertruck | Power Anything’ video shows the Cybertruck coming to the aid of a stranded Ford F-150 Lightning with its ‘Powershare’ feature.
It’s a not-so-subtle dig at esteemed automobile manufacturer, Ford.

The video shows how the Cybertruck can be used to power your home, other EVs, power tools, “or even a party off the grid.”
We’ve recently seen freezing temperatures testing the Cybertruck – alongside other EVs.
However, users were able to use the Cybertruck to power coffee machines and other appliances during icy conditions this month.
One Australian mom was even able to plug in her son’s dialysis machine during a power cut – a move which potentially saved his life.
Tesla’s beef with legacy car maker, Ford, is only for show, however.
In fact it appears that Elon Musk has forged close bonds with both former Volkswagen CEO, Herbert Diess, and CEO of Ford, Jim Farley.
It’s thought that both brands owe a large part of their current EV program to Musk.
The banter of “friendly fire” leveled at the EV market leader by its competitors is top notch.
During negotiations for the North American Charging Standard (NACS) adoption, Farley called the Cybertruck “a truck for Silicon Valley people”.
The launch of the 2024 F-150 saw the company’s GM for North America, John Emmert, saying the brand’s ‘Pro Power Onboard’ bi-directional charging feature could help “a stranded Tesla driver by powering up their car on the side of the road.”
Ford began to ship the F-150 Lightning with a NACS adapter – specifically to allow users to charge a stranded Tesla.
Ford delivered its first Lightning to a Tesla fan and Cybertruck reservation holder in May 2022.
That explains Tesla’s lighthearted clap back video.
And while the war is still anyone’s, Cybertruck’s Powershare seems to have won this battle.
It offers bigger power capabilities than Pro Power Onboard in every situation.
The Cybertruck delivers up to 11.5 kW to your house instead of Ford’s 9.6 kW.
The total power available via the outlets is 9.6 kW for the Cybertruck.
That’s versus 7.2 kW in the case of the F-150 Lightning.
