A Chiron owner accidentally spilled her drink in her hypercar and asked the company to make a custom cupholder for her Bugatti.

Of course, Bugatti was more than happy to oblige.

In record time, Bugatti Director of Design Frank Heyl designed a cupholder for the Chiron owner.

So there you have it, we’ve now seen the world’s first cupholder designed for a $3 million supercar.

Why the hypercar manufacturer designed a cupholder for this Bugatti Chiron owner

Shannon Ralston, CEO of a San Antonio firm called Angel Staffing, is a Chiron owner who accidentally spilled her drink at the wheel.

She didn’t mention the drink by name, but she did say she was drinking a “sticky Austrian energy drink” when it happened.

Ralston took to social media to talk about her ‘predicament’.

In her post, she tagged just about every and any Bugatti exec she could find, including Sasha Selipanov, former Bugatti designer who’s left the company to start his own hypercar brand Nilu27.

She also tagged Frank Heyl, Bugatti Director of Design who also helped Supercar Blondie design her own Chiron.

A few days later, Heyl responded.

“Just in time for Christmas, the design is ready. If you approve this [cupholder] design, we could mock up a rapid prototyping 3D printer part and ship it over to you for a first test fitment in January on your car,” Heyl said.

Problem solved.

An atypical Bugatti owner

We’d go as far as to call Ralston an atypical Chiron owner, because she actually does drive her car.

The recurring theme with these seven-figure, ultra-rare vehicles is they never get driven.

It’s common to find cars like these for sale in the secondary market with only a few hundred miles on the clock after years.

Fortunately, just like the guy who put over 100,000 miles (!) under the tires of his Ferrari Enzo, Ralston is evidently actually enjoying her car.

Good for her.
