A Tesla Cybertruck managed to tow a Rivian R1T truck up the Rustic Ring in Colorado.

We’re talking about an 8,000-foot trail where even the toughest off-roaders struggle.

The good news is the Cybertruck managed without a problem.

But there’s also a catch.

The only problem with towing a very heavy vehicle 8,000ft

The guys from the Out of Spec Reviews YouTube channel tested the Cybertruck’s towing abilities.

In order to make the challenge even more interesting, they decided to tow a Rivian truck, one of Cybertruck’s direct rivals.

The location they picked for the test is a trail in Colorado that they dubbed ‘Rustic Ring’.

The name, by the way, is apparently an ode to the Nürburgring.

The Rivian is a heavy truck, tipping the scales at almost 8,000lbs, and the trailer weighs about 2,000lbs, so we’re looking at around 10,000lbs.

Tesla’s truck has immense amounts of torque at its disposal so it managed to tow the Rivian without a problem.

However, there’s a side issue that emerged.

After the run, which is relatively short, the truck was left with just less than 40 percent charge (from 100 percent).

That doesn’t sound too good.

Hopefully next time around they’ll compare it to a V8 truck to see what’s what.

Rivian R1T vs Cybertruck, which is best?

The Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck have three main things in common.

They’re both trucks, they’re both EVs, and they’re both made by public companies that started out as start-ups.

Visually, they look totally different and, performance-wise, they’re also not exactly the same.

Tesla’s truck outsells Rivian’s truck, even though the Rivian can outperform the Cybertruck both in terms of towing capacity and range.

Although we should point out that these tests are almost always neck and neck, so there’s almost never a clear winner.

But, at the end of the day, the market is the only true judge and, for now, customers seem to prefer the Cybertruck to the Rivian.
