A car enthusiast took his Ferrari Testarossa on a 2,000-mile road trip along slippery winter roads in the South of France.
Harry Metcalfe – from the Harry’s Garage YouTube channel – needed to travel down to the French Riveria, where he owns a boat.
Although it was November and the weather wasn’t great, he decided it would be ‘fun’ to take the Ferrari rather than something a bit more practical.
Unfortunately, the Testarossa ran into a slight problem early on.

Fewer than 10,000 Ferrari Testarossa were ever made
The Ferrari Testarossa went into production in 1984 and was the successor to the Berlinetta Boxer.
Just shy of 10,000 Ferrari Testarossa were made by the time production wrapped up in 1996 – and one of them is tucked away in Harry Metcalfe’s garage.

Back in November 2016, he decided to use the vintage vehicle to carry some items down to his boat on the French Riveria and noted that the Testarossa has a large trunk for a Ferrari making it ideal for the job.
In a clip shared on the Harry’s Garage YouTube channel, he explained that he had to do a bit of prepping ahead of taking to the wet and slippery roads, including putting a spray-on protective coating onto the Ferrari’s exposed aluminum parts.
The Testarossa ran into a problem early on
Now, you may be concerned that the classic car would overheat on such a long and testing journey.

But Harry soon discovered he had the opposite problem and the engine was actually running cold, which meant that the heater didn’t work as it should and poor Harry had to use a blanket to keep warm. It was November, don’t forget.
The heating eventually kicked back in, but then later dropped out again, much to Harry’s frustration.
After he stopped off for the night, the car enthusiast did a bit of digging and discovered that many Testarossa owners have had problems with the heating system.
Not ideal when you’re traveling through France in November, is it?
Heating issues aside – and perhaps somewhat surprisingly – the Ferrari Testarossa managed the trip without any major dramas.
And Harry had no problems recommending it for such long journeys.

“It’s great for long trips because it has this monster fuel tank,” Harry commented.
Fair enough.
