This Kentucky man broke down every single dollar he spends on owning and running his Tesla Model 3.

He believes the car costs less to run than your regular gas guzzler, so he decided to work out exactly how much he’d spent over the last three years.

The total factored in literally every single dollar, including upgrades to Full Self Driving, building a charger at home, and even the speeding ticket he received.

After crunching the numbers, he came to a shocking conclusion.

Every single dollar it takes to run his Tesla Model 3

Andy Slye, an American YouTuber, is well known for making content about his Tesla Model 3, showing his subscribers what it takes to keep it running.

He wanted to see if he was truly saving money in comparison to an average gas guzzler.

So he worked out every penny the Tesla Model 3 had cost to see if he’d gotten a bargain.

Tesla is consistently known as a great EV and often comes out on top compared with other car automakers’ EVs.

Andy received a tax credit of $7,500 for going electric, so his $56,000 Tesla Model 3 dropped down to $51,922.

He also didn’t have any car charging facilities at home, and setting it up cost $1,342 – he eventually got $400 back in tax credits, though.

To keep his car looking fresh, he paid for paint protection film at $1,835, window tinting for $202, and accessories, like $235 floor mats.

Andy was hit with a $203 fine for being too speedy in his Tesla – so to stop being ticketed again, he also bought himself a $250 radar detector.

The ongoing costs

So far, he’s spent a large amount of money he spent on one-off costs.

But the YouTuber still had to factor in ongoing costs.

Things like three years of insurance for $3,672

Or three annual registration fees for around $1,293, as well as repairs and charging at $2,894.

The total cost? Drumroll please… was a whopping $66,096, which is a large amount of money.

But Andy still thinks is cheaper than your standard gas guzzler.

“I am completely satisfied with my Model 3 so far, and it has definitely been worth the cost for me, ” he said of the Tesla.
