This guy in the US drove the famous ‘million-mile Lexus’, a Lexus LS400, and he was shocked by what he found.

We’re talking about an old car with a lot of miles under its belt, but everything still worked.

It even had the original body panels and VIN tags.

But the most surprising thing was found inside the vehicle.

The story behind the million-mile Lexus

David Patterson, the guy behind the ThatDudeInBlue YouTube channel, drove a Lexus LS400 that’s covered over one million miles.

The car was actually restored by Freddy Hernandez.

You may know him as the US YouTuber behind the famous flooded McLaren series, but the Lexus restoration was mostly cosmetic.

This is because, amazingly, just about anything that could break… didn’t break.

Power windows still worked, as did the sunroof and the power seats.

This is somewhat shocking, considering there are cars where these features stop working after a few thousand miles, not a million.

Lexus has always produced reliable cars, but this LS400 is in a different league.

The art of longevity in cars

There aren’t that many cars in the million-mile club.

But there are a few interesting things we can understand when we look at the list.

The first thing that stands out is that Volvo is clearly very good at making cars that last forever.

There’s the famous Volvo P1800 that was driven 3.2 million miles with only one owner.

Then there’s the story of the man who drove 1,000,000 miles in his 1991 Volvo and received an incredible gift after hitting the milestone.

The list of the world’s highest mileage vehicles features almost exclusively cars built between 1960 and 1990 but, interestingly, it also includes a Tesla.

It’s a Model S that belongs to a gentleman in Germany who’s done, you might want to sit down for this, 1.2 million miles in it.

Given that it’s not even an old car, that’s a huge achievement for the brand.
