The EV might buffer your carbon footprint and monthly outgoings on fuel, but the BYD Yangwang U8 has another superpower – the ability to almost fully submerge in water.

That’s right – this video shows the Chinese EV in action as its owner confidently allows it to submerge almost up to its windows.

The 1,200 HP SUV can wade in waters up to 1400mm in depth in an emergency , and can even float and move in water at speeds of up to 2.9 km/h (1.8 mph).

Other advanced features of the top-selling EV brand globally include 360-degree tank turns and crab walking.

That’s in addition to luxe interior, personalized seat configurations of five or seven and up to five screens.

Its aquatic abilities take off-roading to the next level.
