Aside from Concorde, few aircraft are as iconic as the Boeing 747.
More than 50 years ago, the first test flights of Boeing’s 747 and Aérospatiale/BAC’s Concorde heralded a new era for the air transport sector.
Sadly, Concorde’s last commercial flight was 20 years ago, while the Boeing 747 still takes to the skies to this day, albeit it mainly carrying cargo.

The last Boeing 747 rolled off the production line on December 7, 2022, so it’s only a matter of time before we see numbers dwindle into obsolete.
That’s what makes the above video, posted to YouTube by Captain Boeing, so special.
There’s not shortage of videos online of 747s taking off, but it’s not often we get to see takeoff from the pilot’s perspective.
