An American man from Chicago who bought a Pontiac Le Mans 35 years ago has decided to trade it for a golf cart.

The Le Mans has appeared on Craigslist, with the owner keen to offload, asking for $6,500.

However, if you don’t want to pay up, the seller has also said he will consider letting it go if you trade in an electric cart for it.

That is an interesting proposition, perhaps showing how desperate the owner is to get rid of the car.

The 1966 Pontiac Le Mans needs a lot of work

The listing shows that the Le Mans is located in Chicago.

It also confirms that it was originally a restoration project that started when the car was bought 35 years ago.

However, on the listing, the owner says they will never get around to completing it.

That is what has brought it onto Craigslist as they look to sell it.

According to the listing, the car has a 389ci engine under the hood and an automatic transmission.

While it is currently in bits, there is some good news for potential owners.

Mainly the fact that much of the major work has already been completed.

The 1966 Mopar has already had a lot of work completed

According to the seller, the engine has had plenty of work done to it.

They do say, however, that there is still more to be done.

They also said that they have most, if not all, of the original parts and interior trim.

That will certainly make restoration work easier.

Some aftermarket parts, such as a new gas tank and brake lines, also come with the Pontiac.

Due to how the Le Mans is stored, the photos on the listing don’t do a great job of revealing its condition.

The odometer also appears to be broken.

So, working out how much mileage the car has done in total could be tricky.

Should you have $6,500 to spare or even a golf cart and you want a Mopar classic then this could be the car for you.

You have to wonder why the seller is happy to trade in a classic American muscle car for an electric cart!
