Exciting things are happening at Lotus.
In the not-too-distant future the British automaker will be launching the Lotus Emeya.
But before that happens, the all-electric Hyper-GT has been undergoing winter testing in the Arctic Circle – and the footage is a sight to behold.

It wasn’t that long ago that Supercar Blondie’s Sergi Galiano got the keys to the brand’s first EV, the Lotus Eletre Hyper-SUV.
“In all of the years of reviewing cars, this is one of the cars that has impressed me the most,” Sergi said.
With the bar being set so high with the Eletre, there’s high expectations for the Lotus Emeya.
Over the winter, the all-electric grand tourer was in Ivalo, Finland, as Lotus engineers conclude their validation work.
Despite being there for ‘work’ – and the fact temperatures were as low as -25 degree Celsius – the team testing the Emeya appear to have had fun, thrashing the Hyper-GT around in the snow and drifting around a closed track.
It’s safe to say the latest video whets the appetite – but what else do we know about the EV, other than the fact it’s good in snow?
For starters, the all-electric fastback is aimed squarely at taking on cars like the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S.
As for styling, the Emeya is a slightly smaller, lower version of the Eletre.
It’s not hard to see how they’re related, with the Emeya featuring the same narrow headlight design.
But purists may argue its lower roofline and sedan proportions arguably make this the better-suited car to the Lotus badge.
Round the back, you’ll find a distinctive sloping tail that gives the car a distinctly coupe-look from behind.
Then there’s a full-width light bar that runs across the car’s rear, incorporated beneath the Lotus badging and large oval indents.
As for the interior, expect a premium-feeling cabin featuring the best materials, all of which are sustainably sourced.
The dashboard and center console is dominated by a huge infotainment touchscreen that controls the vast majority of the car’s key functions.
Sitting either side of that gigantic screen are thinner, strip-style displays, which allow the driver to see the digital display or the front passenger to see key information.
What’s more, there’s an impressive 55-inch head-up display available, which uses augmented realist.
Not only is it a first for the brand, – it’s also a first for the industry as a whole.
Now for the all-important bit – what’s under the hood.
The Lotus Emeya features a large 102 kWh battery identical to the one used in the Eletre.
Although exact specs are yet to be confirmed, what we do know is that it’ll provide more than 482 kilometers (300 miles) of range between charges.
It’s capable of up to 350 kWh charging – exactly the same as the recently updated Taycan.
The Emeya’s dual-motor platform produces 905 horsepower – good for the 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint in just 2.8 seconds.
That’s enough to put the fear of God up the most ferocious of Teslas.
The Lotus Emeya is expected to arrive in the US sometime between fall 2024 and winter 2025, with a starting price of around $100,000.
