Recent studies have shown that self-driving and autonomous cars are generally safer than those driven by humans.
This is because autonomous cars are equipped with advanced systems that make better decisions while driving.
These systems have a faster reaction time compared to humans, hence avoiding dangerous situations.

With cars getting faster, safety on the road is the top priority.
But that shouldn’t just come with tougher and better material and cars being equipped with airbags.

Advanced features like self-driving cars are almost here.
And while it may sound unreliable, a study done by the University of Florida suggests that autonomous cars are safer than manual ones.
To back up their study, they even gave the data comparing the number of road accidents while driving.
Surprisingly, the number of mishaps with cars driven by humans outnumbered those by cars driven autonomously.
This makes complete sense when we think about all the reckless drivers we often witness on the roads, distracted drivers, and not to forget the ones drinking and driving.
All these issues are totally eliminated with autonomous vehicles like Waymo.
Self-driving technology is not perfect

However, all that said, self-driving technology is still relatively new, and there are many challenges that we need to overcome.
The car’s behavior in adverse environments, the reaction to certain situations, reaction time, and the safety measures taken in the case of technical issues, all these things still need to be tested thoroughly.
So it will be a while before self-driving cars become a common sight on our roads.
And who knows, maybe flying cars like the XPeng will be a common sight in the sky before that.
The self-driving cars surely have the potential to make the roads safer for everyone. And despite the hurdles to overcome, the benefits of this technology will certainly lead the future of driving.
