John Cena is a legendary icon as far as celebrities go, and like every millionaire, he bought his fair share of cars — including a fake Lamborghini that he wasn’t proud of.

You read that right — a fake Lambo to get going because why not?

Mind you, this was in the early days of his career, and surprisingly, he had never driven it until a week ago.

How John Cena got a fake Lamborghini

We all know how much John Cena loves his cars, and it shows.

His car collection might be sizeable, but the ex-WWE superstar also has a rather humble daily driver.

In an interview on the Club Shay Shay show posted on YouTube, John Cena revealed how he once got a Lamborghini kit car.

This came in as a topic of his ‘worst purchase ever’ — but the man took that as a lesson.

“I didn’t want to spring for a Lamborghini, so I bought a fake one,” he said.

The kit car came with a BMW V12 engine, and John Cena deemed it fit.

He added, “This was 2003. I found a company that would do it, they put a V12 in it, I’m like, man, it’s the same thing. It looks pretty good. Like, it looks great.’”

As tempting as the Lambo might have been, this was the beginning of a very long lesson.

You see, he only got the fake Lamborghini after two years of waiting, and the car arrived in shambles.

It had missing parts, and the motor required tuning because of the odd timings of two Chevy V6 engines.

Adding in, he mentioned, “The car is not roadworthy, so I sent it to a shop. This is 2005.”

Driving it after 20 years

So now, after almost two decades, John Cena got the keys to his fake Lamborghini kit car last week.

That’s right, last week.

He had to send it to ten shops, and the final one was the only one who could fix it.

That’s certainly a lot of time, money, and patience for a Lambo — that too a fake one.

Most celebrities in Hollywood don’t bother and get a Lamborghini, but Cena isn’t your average celebrity face either.

Although the kit car now runs great, Cena said that he could have bought two half-Lambos and joined them together for the price he paid.

In the end, it turned out to be a very expensive lesson, albeit a good one.

Many of us wouldn’t follow through with 20 years of waiting, but Cena never faltered.
