A biplane with a mysterious history
The airplane collector in question is called Charles Cook, but the clip was shared on YouTube by Jimmy Webb, the man behind the Jimmy’s World YouTube channel.
If his face looks familiar, it’s probably because this is the guy who bought Elvis Presley’s jet at auction a while back and then spent a lot of cash converting it into an RV.
As Cook explained, he’s had the biplane for 42 years, but it was already old when he bought it.
Cook didn’t reveal much about the plane, but the story is fascinating.
As a YouTuber user put it in the comment section, “Charles is like the Jay Leno of old airplanes”, precisely because of the unique stories behind the vehicles.
An aviation enthusiast like no other
As mentioned, the guy who showed us Cook’s collection is the same aviation enthusiast who spent a lot of cash buying Elvis Presley’s old jet, and even more to turn it into an RV.
After Webb bought the jet, he quickly realized it would’ve been impossible to make it fly again, so he came up with a plan.
He decided to turn it into a luxury RV, which he managed to do in just 18 months.
Even though the whole project still cost him a significant amount of money, he believes this was his only option.
Partly because making the plane fly again would’ve been extremely costly.
But mostly because, for legal and safety reasons, the jet would never be deemed airworthy again.
