Bugatti is about to unveil the long-awaited successor to the Chiron, and the best part about it is it has a V16 engine.

And we know what it sounds like.

Collectors and car fans across the globe sort of held their collective breath for a moment or two when Bugatti unveiled the new engine for the Chiron successor.

Everyone was expecting – or dreading depending on how you look at it – a much smaller engine with some form of electric aid.

They were only half right, as it turns out.

The upcoming hypercar will indeed be powered by a hybrid unit, but it’ll be a V16.

Exactly the same number of cylinders as its predecessor, except they’re shaped in a V instead of a W.

That’s a great result in this day and age, considering just about any and every car that goes out of production is replaced by an electric equivalent or a much smaller unit.

The new V16 was teased earlier this month, and then Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac took to Instagram to share a cryptic clip with the new car.

Mate Rimac, by the way, is probably the reason why the new hypercar is still powered by 16 cylinders.

Right after the merger between Bugatti and Rimac Automobili, Mate Rimac said he didn’t want to turn Bugattis into EVs.

The company and Rimac himself have been sharing teaser clips and images of the new engine, and in one such clip, we even get hear what the V16 sounds like.

It sounds good, doesn’t it?
